Baltic's Past & Future
Uniting Our Heritage through New European Bauhaus Initiatives
About Baltic's Past & Future
The ‘New European Bauhaus’ (NEB) is an EU initiative aimed at creating more sustainable, inclusive and beautiful public spaces. For this transformation to have an impact, it must be rooted in our shared cultural heritage and actively shaped by citizens.
In the Baltic’s Past & Future project, seven partners from the Baltic Sea region are pursuing a common goal: they want to make the values of the NEB better known and more understandable at a local level, and ultimately to embed them. Citizens are to be empowered to engage with the values of the NEB, help shape solutions and proposals for NEB-compliant urban development, and strengthen their sense of belonging to the EU.
In the first phase (2026) of the project, the focus is on raising awareness of the values of the NEB, for example through storytelling, surveys or forums. In the second phase (2027), the focus is on co-creation, dialogue and local actions. Here, citizens can take part in a co-creation process to initiate concrete NEB-compliant developments right on their doorstep.
